7/5/17 Up we go!

A two mountain day set precedent for our trip.

The stately Berkshires escorted us out into the chilled morning.  In Williamstown we glided past the 18th century architecture of Williams University and all the Victorian homes that grew around it. Then we turned onto route 2. The Hoosic then the Green River guided us north and east. Florida, MA, at a much higher elevation than its southern counterpart,  handed us our first switchback (labeled as a " hair pin curve") and welcomed us into the Green Mountains.

In a breath we motored through Vermont, not even stopping for cheese or maple syrup. Crossing the Connecticut River into New Hampshire (confusing- right?) we followed the river north then turned east inching our way through towns where Revolutionary War history was made. We battled Concord as the day grew short,  and were lured in for the night just south of Louden by the happy sight of the first "lobstah house" of the trip. Makris Lobster and Steak House fed us well as we relaxed over red crustaceans and white wine.

Lush mountains, thriving farms, historic New England towns and days of sun have gently ushered us into travel mode.  We are picnic prepared having shopped to fill our bag and Rascal, our stalwart steed, is ready to roll. The Florida curve whetted our appetite and hungry for more we look forward to each new ride. Let the feast begin!
